A few hours ago, I landed in Los Angeles, turned on my phone, and confirmed what you already know. Sony Pictures Television is replacing me as showrunner on Community, with two seasoned fellows that I’m sure are quite nice - actually, I have it on good authority they’re quite nice, because…
You don’t have to say it, but it’s true… how will they make a “good” Community without you? The show is amazing, and I love the direction it was going in, and I’m worried about where the show will go without you there. Maybe the show will be awesome with or without you on season 4, but you’re one of the people that got it to be this awesome, and nothing will change that. Thank you for your hard work, your superb writing, and for putting up with Chevy Chase. I can’t wait to see where you go with your next project!

On a personal note, I’m pissed that Dan Harmon was yanked from the show, and especially now that Community is said to be moving to Friday night. Who the hell is home on Friday night? It’s like NBC wants to kill off Community — a unique, hilarious show, in my opinion. How is it that shows like 2 1/2 men can go on forever, but quality TV is axed whenever they get the chance? Oh, wait. I know. Ratings. Well, it isn’t the fault of my fellow Community fans that America is made up of mediocre minds in need of a laugh track to cue them on when something funny happens. That’s right, generic population of America: It’s your fault. Because you scarf fast food and watch Jersey Shore all day and think “Big Bang Theory” is the epitome of geek comedy.
I wish America would start watching the right shows. You know, the ones that tickle the brain, make you think, make you giggle as if you and the characters on TV share an inside joke.
We all have the feeling this will be the last season of Community, so why couldn’t they at least try to make it a good one?
Thanks, NBC. Thanks, Sony. You Destroyer of Dreams!
I’m done throwing my temper tantrum now. Good night.
